Cebu Safari and Adventure Park is the newest yet the most talked about destination in Cebu. It is located in Barangay Toril, Carmen, Cebu. It is the first ever zoological garden in the Visayas. It covers a total land area of about 170 hectares, making it the largest in the Philippines and the third (3rd) largest in Southeast Asia next to Naypyidaw Zoological Garden in Myanmar which has a land area of 247 hectares and the Safari world in Thailand with a land area of 190 hectares.
The Cebu Safari was founded by Michel Lhuillier. The construction of the facility started a decade ago and now houses thousands of animals with over a hundred species. They have tigers, llamas, giraffes, meerkats, zebras, wildebeests, emus, macaws, hyenas, lions, camels, and many others. These animals are housed in large enclosures to better give the animals comfort as it mimics their natural habitat rather than putting them in cages.
Aside from the animals, another exciting feature of the Safari is the Michel’s Garden. It is a landscaped terrain with over a million orchid plants from Lhuillier’s own private collection. It also has beautiful and colorful plants planted and arranged beautifully to give its visitors a truly majestic impression.
Aside from the garden and the Safari, the park will also feature daily bird shows at the Safari Stadium Amphitheater. There will also be a world-class adventure park that will be opened soon which will feature the following:
- 7 adventure rides including zip coaster
- Asia’s longest zipline (1.2 km)
- Giant Swing
- Obstacle Course
- Spider Walk
- Sky Bike
- Outdoor Adventure with a full hour adventure trek to 8 waterfalls
