Mactan is an island that comprises the group of islands in Cebu. Lapu-Lapu is its main city. It is so far the most popular island in Cebu since the Mactan-Cebu International Airport is situated there. There are also numerous beautiful beach resorts situated on the island and that is the main reason why tourists flock the area.
Although a very small island, Mactan has so much to offer. Aside from the beach resorts, luxurious hotels are also found there. - Lapu-Lapu Shrine – This place is believed to be the spot where the famous battle of Mactan, where Ferdinand Magellan was killed by Lapu-Lapu, took place. It is now converted into a park that gives way to visitors to stroll around. Found in the park is the statue of Lapu-Lapu and other historical evidence.
- 10,000 Roses Cafe – This cafe is located at the end of the Cordova Tourism Center. The main attraction of this cafe is the 10,000 artificial white flowers (roses) that were planted on its grounds. These roses lit up every night at around 6:00 o’clock in the evening and transform the place into a magical scene.
- Alegre Guitar Factory – This place is where authentic hand-made guitars can be found. For music enthusiasts, this is the perfect place to shop for any string instruments.
- Cebu Happy World Museum – The main attraction of this museum are the 3D paintings which are very perfect for picture taking. Pictures taken with their paintings are just like reality.
- Nalusuan and Hilutungan Islands – Bask in the crystal clear waters in these two beautiful islands of Mactan. Just take a boat to take a refreshing dip in its waters.
