Vision

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is the leading government agency committed to advancing accessible, relevant, responsive, and high-quality higher education in the Philippines. It strives to empower students, strengthen academic institutions, and drive national development through education.

Responsibilities of CHED

CHED plays a crucial role in regulating, supporting, and improving higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country. Its key responsibilities include:

Policy Formulation and Implementation – Develops and enforces policies, standards, and guidelines for higher education institutions to ensure quality education.

Quality Assurance and Accreditation – Oversees accreditation and assessment programs to maintain high academic standards in colleges and universities.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance – Provides financial aid, scholarships, and grants to deserving students, including the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST).

Higher Education Development Programs – Initiates programs and projects aimed at enhancing faculty development, research, and innovation in higher education institutions.

Monitoring and Evaluation – Conducts regular assessments of universities and colleges to ensure compliance with national and international education standards.

Institutional Partnerships – Collaborates with both local and international educational organizations to enhance research, academic mobility, and curriculum development.

Expansion of Access to Education – Promotes inclusive education by improving access to higher education, especially for students in marginalized and underserved areas.
