Marawi is officially named as the Islamic City of Marawi. It is the capital city of the province of Lanao del Sur on the island of Mindanao, Philippines. It has a higher elevation and has a cooler climate which makes it the summer capital of the south (sharing the nickname with Malaybalay, Bukidnon which legally holds the title).
